Notes: All the prints from the series have 2 original states. The first edition was made by Nishimuraya Yohachi (Eijud˘), the second edition was made by his grandson a few years after he took over the business in the mid / late 1840's. The original set of blocks were most likely worn by age, or usage. A new set of blocks was carved for this second edition.

An easy way to distinguish the difference between the first and second state is by the lenght of the yellow green grass area in the upper right corner. The 1st State has a long and thin strip, the second state is short and round, as seen on the pictures below :

1/Enji Takamizawa's replica late 1890's

Images 1 & 2 are the replica, image 3 is the original 1st state for comparison.



1/ This section is brown just like it is below the cloud, instead of being white.
2/ Between the two branches, this section of the stream is blue green instead of being white.
3/ All the reprints from the series by Takamizawa have a distinctive ink stain in the right margin, and in the lower right corner.

1/ The triangle between the 2 sections of the river should be Gray colored
2/ The Gray colored section of the replica is much small than it is on the original
3/The hole between the branches / bushes is much smaller than in the original.
